Block Puzzle Strategy

In Trindo’s Block Puzzle, each placement changes the space available for your other pieces. There is no timer: look at the whole tray before choosing your next move. Drag a piece onto the board to preview its position and release to place it. An invalid drop leaves the board unchanged; drop outside the board or press Escape to cancel. Tap and keyboard placement are also available.

Plan all three pieces

The tray refills only when you have placed all three pieces. Before committing a small piece, find a possible home for each of the other two. A piece that fits now may become impossible to place after your next move.

Start by checking the largest or most awkward shape. Pieces cannot rotate, so a long horizontal piece needs an unbroken horizontal gap; a vertical gap will not help it.

Keep useful space open

An empty square is useful only if a piece can reach it. Avoid surrounding isolated holes that only a single-square piece could fill. Leave connected areas for square and corner shapes, and check the edges before committing a placement.

The set includes a 3×3 square and straight pieces up to five squares long. Keeping a large open area gives you more choices when the next tray arrives; it does not guarantee that every future piece will fit.

Look for crossing clears

Every square you place scores 1 point, and each full row or column adds 10. The game detects all completed lines before removing them.

Worked example: the top row and left column are filled except for their shared top-left square. Place a single-square piece there: you earn 1 point for the piece and 20 for the two lines, for 21 points. Both lines disappear together, opening 15 squares because their crossing is shared.

A clear can also create a home for another piece in your current tray. Check what will fit after the clear, rather than judging only the points it earns.

Know when the board is finished

The game ends when none of the remaining tray pieces fit anywhere on the board, even if empty squares remain. You do not need to fill the whole board to run out of moves.

Your current board and personal best are saved in this browser when storage is available. Start a new game to try a fresh tray; your best remains. Clearing site data removes the save and best. Ready to try these ideas? Play Block Puzzle.
