Word Search

Find eight words in an 8×8 letter grid. Choose Animals, Food, Garden, Ocean, Space or Travel, then trace each word in any straight direction. Play at your own pace.

How to play

  1. Drag from one end of a word to the other, or tap its first and last letters. Words run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, forwards or backwards.
  2. Find each of the eight listed words once. Any straight occurrence of a listed word counts, even if the same letters appear elsewhere in the grid.
  3. Hint marks the starting letter of one unfound word without finding it for you. Each target can be hinted once. Hints remain marked until the word is found, and hints used appear in your result.
  4. Use the arrow keys to move between letters. Enter or Space selects each endpoint, and Escape clears your selection.
  5. There is no timer. Your progress and hints are saved in this browser when storage is available. Starting a new puzzle or changing theme asks for confirmation if there is unfinished progress.
  6. Find all eight words to complete the puzzle. Share result opens your device’s share sheet or copies the result and game link. Another puzzle starts a fresh board in the same theme.

Questions

Can words go backwards or diagonally?

Yes. Words can run in all eight straight directions. You can select either end first.

What does a Word Search hint reveal?

A hint marks the first letter of one unfound word. It does not find the word automatically. Each word can be hinted once, and the total is included in your result.

Is there a timer or leaderboard?

No. Word Search is untimed and keeps progress in this browser without submitting results to a public leaderboard.

Can I play another puzzle?

Yes. New puzzle generates a fresh board in the current theme, and the theme menu offers six word lists. Unfinished progress is replaced only after confirmation.
