Can you move a card back from the foundation in Solitaire?
Yes. The top card of any foundation can come back down onto the tableau if it fits there: one rank lower than the card it lands on, and the opposite colour.
Cards on the foundations aren’t locked in. You can take the top card of a foundation and place it back on the tableau, following the usual building rule: it must be one rank lower than the card it covers and of the opposite colour. A king can come back down into an empty column.
Why you’d do it
Sometimes a card you sent up early is exactly what you need to hold a lower card. For example, bringing the 6♥ back down onto a black 7 gives you a place to put a black 5 that is blocking a face-down card.
Moving a card off a foundation counts as one move, like any other. To avoid needing it, don’t send mid-ranked cards up too early; the Klondike tips guide explains when to wait.
