Draw one card from the pile and your turn ends, even if that card could be played. You may only draw when you have no matching card or eight.
If none of your cards matches the rank or the active suit and you have no eight, you draw a single card from the draw pile. Your turn then ends, even if the card you drew could have been played.
The draw rules here
- One card only. You do not keep drawing until you find a match.
- Only when stuck. If you have any legal card, you must play one; you cannot draw instead to avoid it.
- The turn passes. Your opponent moves next, whatever you drew.
Some house rules let you draw until you can play. This game does not, which keeps turns quick and makes a draw informative: if your opponent draws, they had no card of the matching rank or suit and no eight. The strategy guide shows how to use that.
When the pile is empty the game recycles the discard pile; see what happens when the draw pile runs out.
