Each suit has a foundation built up from ace to king. Cards go there one at a time, from a column or a free cell, and cannot be moved back out.
There are four foundations, one for each suit. Each starts empty and is built up in order: ace, 2, 3, and so on to the king, all in the same suit.
Which cards can go
- Only the next card of that suit in order, so the ace goes first.
- One card at a time, taken from the bottom of a column or from a free cell.
One way only
A card on a foundation stays there: you cannot pull it back onto a column. You can double-click a card to send it straight to its foundation when it fits. Think before you send a card home if you may still need it as a stepping stone, since an undo is the only way back (undo and moves). The strategy guide and the full rules have more.
