End your sowing with the last seed in your own store. You then move again, and you keep going while each sowing ends in the store.
When the last seed of a sowing drops into your own store, you take another turn straight away. If the next sowing also ends in your store you go again, so a well-counted position can bank several pits in a row.
Counting to the store
A pit ends in the store when its seeds equal the number of steps to it: the sixth pit needs 1 seed, the fifth needs 2, and the first needs 6. A pit with 13 more seeds than that laps the board and ends there as well. Your opponent’s store is skipped, which keeps the count the same on every lap.
Chains of extra turns are the core of the opening. Read how to play Mancala for the basics, or the strategy guide for the order to play the pits in.
